Throughtout history women have been trying to get the rights that they deserve such as a job, an education, the right to vote ect. Shortly after the Civil War women began gaining rights one by one. "The American Civil War brought an end to the National Women’s Rights Convention, and for the next several years, women’s rights activists focused their energies on the abolition of slavery, and on emancipation issues" Women's History in the U.S. N.p., n.d. Web. 1 Jan. 2013. <http://www.sewallbelmont.org/learn/womens-history-in-the-u-s/>. When the Convention was over the women were thrilled and hoped that thier new stability and rights would not only last but that they would succeed and improve over time.
As it turns out the women got their wish and the rights they gained not only improved but doubled and the fight it took them to get there won't be forgotten. Since the movement "Women moved into many jobs working in heavy industry in mining, chemical manufacturing, automobile and railway plants. They also ran street cars, conduct trains, direct traffic, and deliver mail"The Path of the Women's Rights Movement. N.p., n.d. Web. 30 Dec.2012. http://www.ibiblio.org/prism/mar98/path.html. Not all of these jobs were safe at the time, but they certainly have improved.
